Week 1 is in the books for the 2012 OJMFLL Regular Season.
There isn't much that tops the feeling one gets on the opening day of a season in any sport - especially when it's outdoors on beautiful day on a fabulous field. Anticipation and excitement filled the air around Budd Park in Kitchener as teams, players, and fans alike welcomed the opening whistle of their first games.
This season, the OJMFLL welcomed the the re-entry of the Oakville Hawks franchise as they are now in the record books for the first time in some 7 years. Not only are they back in the league, they came out of the gate flying and left town sporting an early season 2-0 record.
The league also welcomes back the Halton Hills Bulldogs and the Mimico Mountaineers after a 1 year hiatus.
After a number of years of competitive play in Division II, the London Jr. 'Stangs made the jump to Division I for the 2012 season. The 'Stangs shook off a slow start in their first game in DI, and while they dropped a close one to start the day, they shocked favorite Hamilton Bengals in their second game of the day to send everyone on their team home smiling.
Week 2 is always an interesting week as we look to see how teams respond to their record after the first week.
